1979 | Voldemort requests Regulus's house elf, Kreacher. After leaving the elf for dead, Regulus calls him, and finds out what exactly Voldemort had been doing. Talking to his friend, Severus Snape, about the situation, the two come together and discuss what to do about it. After much consideration, Regulus contacts his brother, Sirius. The two meet, and finally Regulus tells the entire Order of the horcruxes. Together, with Severus, the two work as spies against Voldemort and convey information that pertains to the horcruxes. Peter Pettigrew was outed to the Order as a spy, and so the Order used that against Voldemort by feeding Peter false information.
1979/1980 | All of the horcruxes are destroyed. There is a battle in Diagon Alley during which Albus Dumbledore and Voldemort duel - with Dumbledore emerging victorious. Voldemort died just like any other man, albeit in a destructive battle. Many of his followers died, including Bellatrix Lestrange at the hand of her sister, Andromeda Tonks. His other followers went to trial, some escaping on excuses of being controlled and others were sent to Azkaban. Albus Dumbledore entrusts the Hallows to a new set of three brothers: James, Sirius and Remus. James, of course, had the cloak. Remus, the stone. Sirius, the wand. He tells them what they are and why they must be protected at all costs. The three agree and take their respective items.
1981 | James and Lily are gifted with a son, Harry James Potter.
1996/1997 | Harry enters his 6th year at Hogwarts. During this time there is word of a tournament coming to Hogwarts. Two years ago the Tri-Wizard tournament was a success, Cedric Diggory won the contest having competed against Fleur Delacour and Viktor Krum. However, this year, Albus Dumbledore has decided an interschool tournament would help bring them together internally as it had brought the schools closer together two years ago. In this, a champion from each house would be chosen to compete in three tasks, much like the tri-wizard tournament.
