Lily sat at the edge of the black lake just as the sun was starting to go down on that late September day. There was a chill in the air and the colors appearing on the trees proved that fall was near. But the sun was still out. The sky was a lovely mix of blue, pink, and yellow, and the waves crashed peacefully on the grassy bank. Lily stuck her hand out and swished the water around, watching the minor disturbance she created in the ripple fix itself and rejoin the norm as she did so. Water was so hard to interrupt.

This was Carter's favorite time of year, the fall. She loved coming back to school and seeing her friends once again. Loved the Hogwarts grounds and showing off. This year should be better than the others, even though she'd enjoyed them all. The reason being, this year she was in charge. This year, she was a seventh year, which fact scared and excited her simultaneously, not that she'd show it. Carter wasn't really one to show weakness in any form. She much preferred to have fun, which meant this year she was prepared for all sorts of shenanigans. Dinner was over and Carter set off, looking for her close friends. She hadn't seen Lily in quite a while, so she figured she'd search for the girl first. If all else failed, she could always seek Harry out in the common room later. She grinned when she saw the girl sitting out by the Black Lake, playing with the water. "Hey stranger," Carter greeted with a smirk as she plopped down on the ground beside her friend. "How are you?" Sure, she might as well get the small talk out of the way now. @harry Lily E. Snape

Harry was with Ron and Hermione at Hagrids hut when he glanced out the window and saw Carter headed for the black lake. He bid his friends adeui to follow her. They had seen each other over the summer, of course, but they didn't get to see Lily as much during the summer so it was always nice when the three could get together. He figured he'd grab Carter and they could find Lily. Though, the black lake was probably the first place he'd look. When he caught up, both girls were already there. Harry jogged forward. "Hey, all," he greeted, too happy with the serindipitous meeting to make a joke. Lily E. SnapeCarter Rose Black

Carter appeared first and plopped herself down beside Lily on the edge of the lake. Lily found it endearing that they almost always knew where to find her. She supposed it made sense though, everyone had their places. Harry was almost always found on the Quidditch pitch. “Not bad,” Lily answered, she hated small talk as much as she knew the Gryffindor did, “You?” she asked politely back in reply. Then Harry arrived moments later, how very convenient. Lily loved it when her friends came to her, it required less effort on her part. “Hey there.” she greeted. “What luck.” she gave a giggle.

Carter couldn't help but chuckle when Lily answered her vaguely. Of course she didn't want to go into detail. She was being a punk. Or she just didn't want small talk ... okay Carter could definitely understand that. Still, they hadn't really seen one another much over the summer and she wanted to hear how her friend's summer went. Maybe another time. She smirked and shrugged when Lily asked how she was. "I'm great. Just ate, hanging out with one of my best friends. How could things get better?" she asked with a teasing smirk. Then Harry was with them. Carter grinned up at him, glad that he'd decided to join them. "Harry! How nice to see you? Glad you're joining the cool kids today." She smirked. Carter sighed, stretching a little as she looked across the Black Lake. "So are we going to do anything fun, or just sit here?" Hopefully something fun. @harry , Lily E. Snape

The girls were having their own conversation a bit before he joined, clearly, but as soon as he arrived they greeted him. Lily spoke of the luck of him finding them and Carter spoke of his joining the cool kids today. He rolled his eyes, even though he had always known that Carter was one of the cool kids. He had always looked up to her, even though she was only a year older than he. "Ello, ello. I am indeed blessed with the cool kids," he suggested. Carter asked what they were going to do today, fun wise or sitting wise and Harry scoffed. "I, for one, am more partial to fun and excitement, if you guys didn't know," of course they knew. "Maybe a little tree climbing race? A swim in the freezing water? A challenge to who can get the most dates lined up by the end of the day?" that third one was definitely a joke. Harry may have been a bit of a flirt to his close friends, but that's where it stopped. He was not graceful otherwise. Carter Rose BlackLily E. Snape

Lily added a little nod to the end of Carters comment as if to say, ‘hear hear’ and agree with her. Lily, while sometimes a solitary girl, liked to be around certain people more than she liked to be on her own. Harry and Carter were really the only people that fit that description. And sometimes her brother, but it really just depended on what he wanted or why they were together. They usually didn’t hang out unless there was something going on like the night they found out their mother was pregnant. Lily wanted to roll her eyes simply at the thought, but she held it back. Harry was restless, surprise surprise, and offered a few things for them to do rather than just sit here. Lily’s eyes lit up and the idea of a dip in the lake. “I could go for a swim…” she smirked. She was never, literally, NEVER opposed to getting in the lake. No matter how cold it was. But it wasn’t everyday that someone would get in with her, and she wasn’t exactly going to go in alone most of the time.
