Callie loved to take a walk to start her morning every day. One of the main reasons she loved doing it, was because there weren’t many students who were out on the grounds when the sun came up like she was. She was able to get some time to herself to enjoy the fresh air and the sunshine, and she was soaking in the sunshine before it went away and was replaced by clouds, snow, and rain for the next 5 months. She loved her summer and one of the things she loved the most about being a teacher was having her summers mostly free. She stayed at school for a few weeks at the end of the year, and she came back a few weeks early to prep her classes, but she got to travel, and that was an incredible blessing.
Feeling thoroughly energized, Callie walked back up the stairs to the castle and through the large main doors leading to the entrance hall. Once she got inside, she began walking towards the great hall for breakfast. If she was lucky, she’d be in and out before most students too, so she had some time to spend some time in her classroom before her first lesson of the day.

[attr="class","box2"]It wasn’t a particularly special day. Remus wasn’t one to really spend a lot of time on his meals, possibly due to his nature of not eating quite as much as his sister might think he should. Well, it was either that, or the fact he preferred not to be around the crowd of students every morning. He could handle them in a crowd around the same size as his classes, but with the hall full it was a bit more nerve-wracking for him. Didn’t help he locked himself up indoors, despite his mind wandering and wanting to go outside where the air was fresh and he could run free. No, he couldn’t allow himself to give into such… temptation.
Regardless, he had rose early as he did every day during the school year, making his way to the hall for a quick breakfast, hoping to beat the majority of students. While he loved his job and his students, he liked to have time to himself. That wasn’t a selfish wish was it? However, as he did so, he spotted a certain muggle studies professor making her way to the Great Hall as well. He knew the family due to his friendship with Sirius, and, while he wouldn’t admit it, he had a huge crush on said professor’s sister. It wasn’t as if Remus was part of the family, but he did know her from the last two years of her professorship. He sped his walk a bit so he could catch up with her.
“Professor,” Remus said curtly with a nod, slowly as he reached her side. “Would you mind if I joined you for breakfast this morning?” | [attr="class","box23"] Are you insane like me? Been in pain like me? [attr="class","tagbox12"]Words: 279 |

Callie heard his footsteps approaching before he caught up with her, but she was pleasantly surprised when she saw who it was. Not that there were people who she didn’t like, but there were definitely people who’s companionship she enjoyed more than others. “Good morning professor.” she bid him kindly. Remus Lupin was certainly a gem of a man. He had been an excellent help to her during the first few years of her career. He had been a young teacher too, joining the Hogwarts staff at the age of 20, so he understood the overwhelm that washed over Callie when she started teaching. She had spent the entire first summer at Hogwarts that year. She studied more than she ever had and planned every lesson down to the word. Most of those lesson plans never actually saw the light of day, but she was thankful that she had taken the time to make them anyway. “I don’t mind at all, please join me.” She agreed. Callie was never one to turn down an invitation. She had a hard time saying no to most things, actually. but this wasn’t a situation in which she wanted to say no anyway. “It’s it a lovely morning?” she asked sweetly, the sunlight streaming in from the high windows had her beaming.

[attr="class","box2"]Remus smiled and nodded. “Quite lovely. Especially lovely when I get to spend the morning with a lovely lady like you.” He chuckled lowly and rolled his neck. “Have you been keeping in touch with Sirius? I know your family is one of the few branches he likes of his family.” That was a bit wordy and Remus would admit that, but he was also not exactly… thinking before he spoke. Normally he spent a good few moments thinking before he said anything, but around Callie he felt a bit more comfortable. Less on guard. He had to be on guard around his students, even his friends from time to time. It was just a morning with a fellow professor whom he was on good terms with. “Do you have any plans for the day?” | [attr="class","box23"] Are you insane like me? Been in pain like me? Some people might think that if someone was acting as nicely to Callie as Remus was, they’d want something or have some ulterior motive. But that thought never crossed Callie’s mind. She just assumed everyone was nice. She assumed that people always had good intentions and wanted the best for everyone as she did. “Well I’m happy to spend my morning with you.” She agreed sweetly. He then asked if she kept in contact with Sirius, her cousin. “Yes, though not as much as I should, probably.” she admitted with a little sigh. She was bad at remembering to do things like send owls and check in on people. She’d get these random thoughts in the middle of the night about needing to send an owl to her sister but then she’d forget by morning. “I believe he’s well.” Even if he wasn’t, she wouldn’t say it. Callie kept things positive. “Though you probably know better than me.” Since they were friends and all. Callie had never had a friend group like that, sometimes she thought it would be nice, but other times, she thought about how it would be so many people to keep up with. “Well besides teaching my classes, you mean?” she asked with a giggle when he asked about her plans for the day. “I’ve got a thrilling lesson for the first years on Kitchen utensils.” she muggles were so cool.

[attr="class","box2"]He couldn’t help but think that Callie was somewhat like her sister – and what Remus pictured Nymphadora to look about like if she weren’t a metamorphagus, her ‘natural’ look, or whatever one would call it. Not that he minded her changes – and in fact found it to be quite attractive and quirky to fit her quirky personality. While yes, Callie was a way he could ‘connect’ with her sister in a way, he didn’t ever feel like he was using her for that. He liked her – she was kind and caring. In a way, he saw her as a kindred spirit to him. Albeit, she was a lot kinder than he was – especially when it came to his ‘trickster’ tendencies. Apparently, some students had given him the name the Trickster Professor after all.
“Ah, well, last I heard he is well, but who knows what could change over the course of a few days?” He chuckled. He had seen Sirius over the summer, of course, along with James and their respective partners. It was a bit harder to keep up with them given the fact they all had families and duties of their own. It wasn’t like during the war when he and Sirius were living with James and so they’d see each other every single day. But it wasn’t like they were strangers – they were still the best of friends, just not constantly with each other. “Is Nymphadora doing well? I heard she had graduated from the training program recently.” Ah ha, there was his inquiry about her sister. Damn it, he liked Callie too, he swears. He didn’t use her for this, he swears. It was just… a happy coincidence.
Raising his brow, he chuckled. It did seem like such an interesting subject – his mother was a muggle so he was at least versed somewhat well in muggle things – as well as the fact he took the class while he was at Hogwarts However, what he found amusing was her giggle and excitement for the subject. It was wonderful to see someone so into their job. Severus never really showed such… enthusiasm. Perhaps it was due to her young nature – and the fact Severus was never like that in general. “Oh ho. If I have time, perhaps I should sit in. I’ve been attempting to cook a bit more recently for myself. Might need a refresher course.”

Remus admitted that Sirius had been well a few days ago but could have changed since then. Callie nodded, “He is a reckless one, but I’m sure we’d have gotten word if there was something wrong.” she smiled. No news always meant good news, right? At least as far as the young professor was concerned. He then turned the conversation to ask about her sister and the fact that she had finished her training program recently. Callie nodded again, there was a lot of nodding going on today, confirming that everyone was well. That was a good problem to have, she supposed. At least she didn’t have to deliver bad news. “Yes she seems to be doing well too, she did, our parents are very proud of her. I haven’t seen her in a few weeks though.” Callie had been here for the past two weeks prepping her classroom and getting ready for the year, but she would probably have to ask her sister to have a visit in the next few weeks. That would be nice.
Remus didn’t have to fake interest in her lesson, she knew that it was a boring subject to most people, but she didn’t feel the need to hide her interests. Everyone had something that they liked, and muggles were her thing. Maybe she’d ever marry a muggle one day, though she wasn’t really sure how she would meet one while she was shut up here in the castle all day for the school year. As a teacher, she knew she could leave when her daily lessons were done, but she hardly ever did. “If you’re not teaching, yourself.” she reminded him, but she was sure he wouldn’t skip his own lessons to attend one of hers. “You’re welcome to sit in on any of my lessons. But don’t you already have a decent knowledge of muggle stuff?” she asked.
