You ought to be more careful.

Up to something.
The first day of class had come and gone quite quickly. Severus was quite grateful for that – while he had been a professor for nearly 16 years at this point and given his general distaste for idiocy that ran rampant in these halls, he still taught. Every once in a while he would find a brilliant student, someone who he could be proud to teach (not that he would admit it), and of course, being a professor at Hogwarts allowed him access to some things he would not be able to have normally… some things would require more questions than he would like to answer. At Hogwarts, Dumbledore let him do his own thing and no one questioned why he would need copious amounts of wolfsbane.
...
Didn’t help there were two of them he had to provide for. His wife was one, and he didn’t care at all for helping her, because she was someone whom he loved. Her brother was the other. And he minded that quite a bit, given their strained relationship in school and how he always felt Remus was pushing off his responsibilities on his sister… at least from his perspective that was how it was right now.
Regardless, today was the first afternoon after the first day of classes and while he was quite tired given very few students were prepared, despite some of them knowing much better and having him for years in the past. However, rest was not in his books, no. Dumbledore had assigned him to patrol the halls to make sure there wasn’t any… funny business going on. Ever since those Weasley twins left, he was sure it would be better. But of course, there were always going to be those who misbehaved. Normally his presence was enough to scare off most students before they pulled the trigger on any one prank or destructive plan. Normally. He sincerely hoped he wouldn’t run into any of those students down here in the dungeons, but then again…
Gryffindors.
Gryffindors were incredibly dumb and given the rivalry between those morons and his Slytherins, he was sure there would be something happening today, and he was prepared to defuse it. He had already found wet start fireworks set up and ready to go, and so he managed to vanish them before they went off. Perhaps this afternoon would be quiet. He sure hoped it would be. Then later, he could have his dinner and go to sleep. What he wouldn’t give to lay in his bed at this moment and close his eyes.
