So I lay my head back down and I lift my hands and pray. To be only yours I pray, to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. ► It was lucky for her that she had walked this path dozens of times because she was moving on autopilot. The stairs were timed right, as she climbed, fists clenched at her side, up and up and up...
She slipped quietly into the office, knowing she needed no knocking and just collapsed into the chair in front of his desk. She hadn't a clue on why she was still trying to hold herself together.
Oh, right. Severus radar.
But even he knew at this point she had been on the verge of breaking.
She covered her face with her hands.
"Help," the word was weak, vulnerable, broken.

[attr="class","box2"]Remus had just been going over a few papers when suddenly one of his alarms had gone off quietly in his head. He stood, tucking the papers away and narrowed his eyes. Who could be coming to him this late at night? Without even knocking the door opened and his eyes widened seeing his little sister standing there, soon sitting in the chair across his desk. Seeing her like that made his heart hurt. His jaw dropped and he quickly waved his wand. Suddenly a cup and flown to his living quarters, behind the hidden doorway in his office and he kneeled before her, looking up at her covered face.
The cup flew out, his blue eyes shining as the glass offered itself to her, full of hot chocolate ready to be drank when she was ready for it, just floating, waiting. “Talk to me, Rose. What happened?” He reached up, taking her hands in his and finding hers. And then he would wait, wait for her reply, just staring, occasionally blinking, just being there for her.

Hope jumped when the classroom door creaked open farther than it had been. She was working on something for a different class, chatting with her father. Since her mother had died, she spent as much time with her father as she could, keeping him company. At least when her aunt wasn't doing so. They really were one heck of a team.
Her father wouldn't admit it, but she knew he appreciated having someone around, even though she had caught the guilty glances of her father. She pretended not to notice them.
Her gaze followed her aunt as she whooshed past her in that gaunt that Hope figured she had adopted from her uncle - and up the stairs into the office. Hope blinked several times, picking up her things and putting them away neatly into her bag and fishing something else out. A roll of parchment she kept on her at all time, tracking the phases of the moon.
Well, it was nowhere near that time of the month. But werewolves were extremely emotive regardless of it. Her aunt much more so when--
Oh, oh my. She had heard the stories from her father. It had been a strange ordeal for her mother and her aunt to be pregnant at the same time. Her father stressed out for more than one woman in his life. Always worried about the risks.
She put away her things, the moon phase parchment hidden in a pouch she had a charm set on and got up from her seat to slip up the stairs towards her father's office.
She felt her heart constrict at the pain in her aunt's voice. It was rare to see her worried, or stressed, or anything but her happy-go-lucky self. Completely opposite of her father, well, not all the time, but the difference in moods was striking. But when the Lupinisms did hit with her aunt, it was a terrible thing to witness.
Her father was in action immediately, and Hope couldn't help but smile. A mug of hot chocolate flying from his personal quarters. Floating before her aunt, waiting for her. Kneeling down before her.
Hope loved watching these two interact and hoped - no pun intended - that she herself would find someone with the level of devotion and love her father and her aunt had for each other. Oh, she knew they were siblings, but it was the purest and prime example of what love between two people should be.
Not to mention the love between her aunt and her uncle as well.
It was one hell of a love story, she had to admit.
She slipped into the room, quietly, looking to her father before approaching slowly, resting a hand on her aunt's shoulder before slowly moving it to the back of her neck, threading it into her hair.

So I lay my head back down and I lift my hands and pray. To be only yours I pray, to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. ► She felt herself shake as her brother took her hands in his. More feeling him kneel before her than see him do so.
What happened. Shit, where to start?
She was about to reply when she felt another presence, and she looked up, her eyes catching with Hope's. Her eyes closed once more as her breath shook as she attempted to breathe. To collect her thoughts. But at that moment, she couldn't help but think how lucky.
She sighed, feeling the warmth from both Remus and Hope, grounding her.
"To... keep it simple, the kids... well, we had a fight. Maybe it was mostly me... I don't know. I know they're acting like... well, sixteen-year-olds. But... Sev... he walked out on us tonight."
She looked up, her own blue eyes shining. "I-- I had something I wanted to tell all of them tonight; and... things just... broke apart. I... don't know what to do."
Her hands gripped her brother's tightly. "Moons."
Her breath shudders again. "I'm pregnant."

[attr="class","box2"]Quickly, he calmed himself down, knowing he needed to keep a level head about all of this. Pregnant? Again? He took in a deep breath, his eyes looking deep in thought. This meant that Severus had touched her at least twice. And dear lord he didn’t want to think about her and Severus together. So perhaps he should think of this in a different way. A third child. She was pregnant with a third child. He was going to be an uncle to three children, and one of them was in this room right now.
There was a lot he needed to address, a hand reaching up to cup Rose’s cheek. “Severus doesn’t know yet either?” That was going to be interesting to see him deal with. When she was pregnant the first time, Severus had quite a few misgivings, much like he had himself – hell, it took his friends for him not to run out of his future wife at the time.
He was aware Hope was here, but he chose to focus more on Rose – so long as Hope’s presence did not become disruptive. But he trusted that she would not… cause any trouble. “I think… Sev needs time to himself to sort things out. Boys at his age are… going through a lot. I’m sure girls are too, but I know specifically for boys, given I was one. On the cusp of adulthood and lost. He’s lucky because he’s got his parents here at Hogwarts with him, loving, caring parents, who will be there for him. However…” He sighed, his thumb running over her cheek softly. “While something good, it can also have consequences. For now, give him a couple days and then have a talk with him. He’s likely… scared but won’t admit it. I do believe Sirius was around this age when he ran from home to live with James. I can’t say for sure, but I know kids his age say they want independence, but then they feel alone when they get it. It’s a hard thing to balance.”
His other hand reached down, gently touching her stomach. He swallowed thickly and looked down. She wasn’t far enough along to feel any sort of movement or even to show anything, but he knew there was a child growing inside of her. He could feel it even. Or perhaps that was in his imagination because he knew. “You needn’t worry, Sev will come around. This child will have a wonderful mother, and amazing siblings. Even an ‘okay’ dad.” He chuckled lowly. “Being a parent isn’t an easy job, believe me, I know.” His eyes glanced up to Hope, then back down to Rose. “But it’s going to be alright. You’re a wonderful mother. It’s just going to take time.” | [attr="class","box23"] Are you insane like me? Been in pain like me? [attr="class","tagbox12"]Words: 464 |

What the devil were her cousins thinking? Walking out! Without even bothering to talk to their parents? Did they think that's what adults acted like? Oh, she was going to have a damn talk with them. She knew she was younger, but those two... the rebellious streak had been cute up until now, but now, it was just disrespectful and being the children of one such as respected as Severus Snape -- well, that was just unjustified. It was mockery, that.
She felt for her aunt. Torn between standing up for her husband and her children.
Moons. It was something when she used that particular name for her brother. There were only two others who used that name. Her father's best friends, but coming from her aunt, it felt like... something else. She couldn't place it.
Her study into werewolves and werewolf habits was deep, but the information was thin. She was rather frustrated by it all, but she wanted to understand more about her father and her aunt. Because as far as she knew, they were hidden, unregistered, illegal, for many reasons. One being her own grandfather - the main issue - and the other by the name of Dolores Umbridge who just happened to have a thing against half-breeds.
Hope's eyes widened. Well, she had figured, but even hearing it still caused a flutter of shock and excitement in her belly.
Hope took the cup of hot chocolate that was floating in the air and held it before Rose, gaining her attention on it. "Drink, aunt Rose. You'll feel better."
With that, she pressed a kiss to her aunt's cheek and dashed out of the room, focused on finding her cousins. She assumed somewhere between the dungeons and the towers. At least she was a prefect - well, so was Lily; but she could use it to catch them.

So I lay my head back down and I lift my hands and pray. To be only yours I pray, to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. ► Rose looked to her niece, who was insistent on her taking the hot chocolate and, boy, it smelt good now. Now that her mind was calmer, collected. She took the cup and blinked as Hope pressed a kissed to her cheek and then dashed out of the room looking determined. She rose a brow but merely turned back to her brother, taking a slow sip of the beverage.
"Yes, none of them knows yet..." she sighed. "It was mostly the reason why I had called them all together. A dinner like this this early in the school year? A little goofy, right?"
She sighed. She had wanted to tell them all together, to let Severus see the children get excited about the new addition. She knew the fight she went through when she was pregnant with the twins. It had taken both Dorcas and Remus to get Severus to chill.
She leaned into her brother's touch, eyes closing as she willed her self to breathe, to calm herself.
Her son needed time. She nodded. Sixteen-year-olds had it rough when it came to feelings especially the boys. She sighed. Her memory going back to when she was sixteen when Severus was sixteen.
"I... just... I can do that, give him a few days. But..."
She swallowed. "I just hope he'll... no, that both of them will talk to me after that. Talk to us. I... want them to know that we love them. No matter what's going on."
She exhaled. "I don't want them to think that we hate them. Or think that we're tired of them. Or any of that! I would loathe... to be thought of like our father - like Severus' - and I know he would hate that too."
Her teeth sank into her bottom lip, eyes looking frightened again.
Her brain fussed, as she tried to think of where things had gone so awry.
Time. Space. He'll come around. Both of them will.
She exhaled, looking down at her stomach, at her brother's hand. She set the cup of hot chocolate down on the table near her and laid her hand over his.
"I'm afraid now. Because of all this. I don't want them to think... that this child is to replace them."

[attr="class","box2"]Remus watched as Hope left and he swallowed thickly. He had a feeling she was either going to Severus to make sure he was alright (which Remus was sure he was) or to find her cousins and reprimand them. She was a wonderful daughter, and she really stood up for him and Rose and even Severus. She stood up for her siblings too. It made him wonder a little bit if he did something wrong – she wasn’t rebellious like some of the other teens. Then again, who was he to complain that his child wasn’t breaking his heart and making him worry constantly? A little bit of rebellion was a good thing, and so it always worried him that perhaps he wasn’t seeing things she was doing in the background. Blind to all the bad. She was quite mature for her age, and that was a good thing, he reminded himself. If she was having problems, then she could come to him – or someone else even. Didn’t stop him from worrying all the time.
“Maybe goofy, but not stupid. I think its quite adorable myself.” He smiled settling more on his knees to a more comfortable position. “Perhaps it may have been better if you let them know you had something important to tell them, otherwise they might… misunderstand, yes? Communication is key in all relationships. What works with your husband may not work with your children. They’re growing into their own people and so you need to be cognizant of those changes. I would never ask Sirius to come to a family meeting without letting him know something important would happen. Otherwise he would make a huge mess of all of it, yeah?”
He could understand her fears. He was fearful his children would end up hating him as well. He had to be firm and not let them be spoiled, but at the same time balance being there for them. Normally, people had a partner when it came to children, but he was alone in it – even while his sister and friends would help him out. It wasn’t the same. It was difficult for him, but he knew it was just as difficult for Rose, if not more so, especially given that she was going to have another child. He could understand her fear of Severus being fearful as well – he would be if their spots were reversed. Not just because somehow Dorcas would have to rise from the dead and be pregnant with his child, but the fact that having any child at any time was terrifying. All on top of everything going on with her children already.
“All you can do is be there for them. Love them. Our father was never there for us, and he constantly let us know how he hated what we were, and wished that we died that night. I can’t say for sure about Severus’s father, but I’m sure it was similar. They’re just teenagers. They’re finding themselves, and they’re lost… but at the same time they want to find their way out of the maze themselves. It’s hard, but you have to stand by and help occasionally… and its just hard to know when is the right times to help and when is the right time to let them figure it out themselves.”

So I lay my head back down and I lift my hands and pray. To be only yours I pray, to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. ► She exhaled shakily, leaning forward to rest her forehead on his shoulder. He was right. He normally always was. The exact reason she had come to him; to knock sense into her racing brain.
"I..." her hands ran through her hair. "I got carried away with myself."
Just let them have time. She sighed heavily. She would be better than her father. She tried every day to let her children know that she loved them. Perhaps she had been... suffocating?
She wraps her arms around her brother, pulling him into a hug.
"I should... get back to Severus. I don't want him to worry."
